ASE Guidelines for Training Teams In High Heat
Anything known to be over 100 degrees is an immediate cancellation unless it can be moved to later in the evenings or early in the mornings when temperatures are below 100 degrees. For example our G00s moved training, until further notice, to 7:00 - 9:00 pm and they also use classroom and early weekend sessions to supplement lost training days due to cancellations.

Anything over 90 degrees we have to be very careful with. Here are some best practices to implement:

  • Train near the shade trees. If there are no shade trees, bring a quick shade.
  • Make sure the kids have plenty of breaks in the shade with lots of water.
  • Bring a large jug of ice water because the kids won't have enough.
  • Skip the conditioning, and train in spurts of 15 minutes max (then to shade for 3 min).
  • Set up the next exercise and demonstrate while the kids are rehydrating in the shade.

Overexposure to extreme heat can be very dangerous. For more information about heat stress, including symptoms and first aid, click here:
